Tragedy Strikes Oyo: Fire Incident Claims Two Lives, One Rescued

The Oyo State Fire Service successfully recovered two bodies and rescued one individual following a fatal road accident in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. The tragic incident took place on Tuesday at Arapaja Bridge, located in the Kudeti area of Ibadan.

According to reports, a Lexus Jeep 360, bearing the registration number KSF297JF, was in motion when its driver lost control. The vehicle subsequently summersaulted into a nearby gutter and immediately caught fire, leading to a serious emergency situation.

Fire service personnel promptly arrived at the scene. During their operation, they were able to retrieve the bodies of two deceased males from the wreckage. Additionally, one person who was involved in the accident was rescued alive and provided with necessary assistance.

The incident was officially confirmed by Hon Maroof Akinwande, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service. In a statement released to DAILY POST on Tuesday evening, Akinwande noted that the recovered bodies had been transferred into the custody of the policemen from the Mapo division for further procedures.

Akinwande attributed the cause of the accident to reckless driving. He also commended the Nigerian Police Mapo Divisional headquarters for providing crucial security cover and support during the entire rescue and recovery operation, ensuring the safety of personnel and maintaining order at the accident site.
