Trent Reznor Hints at Nine Inch Nails' Impending End

Trent Reznor dropped a major hint about Nine Inch Nails' touring future.
The industrial rockers are currently on their Peel It Back tour, and during a recent show, the 60-year-old frontman admitted he has no idea if the group will hit the road again.
Speaking on stage at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday (27.03.26), he recalled:
“One of the first times we played here, maybe it was Cain’s Ballroom, like 80 years ago… we were playing Head Like a Hole, and I could see someone in the back screaming the f*****’ lyrics back at me, and I thought,
‘This is all I ever wanted in life, is to connect with somebody like that dude’. Anyway, that’s what I think of when I roll into Tulsa.”
Reznor recalled visiting Tulsa years ago, when Nine Inch Nails opened for Peter Murphy at the much smaller Cain’s Ballroom.
He remembered a powerful moment seeing a fan sing along to “Head Like a Hole”, a classic from their 1989 album Pretty Hate Machine.
This memory highlights the band’s lasting connection with fans over decades.
Coinciding with Reznor’s tour news, Nine Inch Nails surprised fans by releasing Tron Ares: Divergence, a companion to their hit Tron: Ares soundtrack.
Composed by Reznor and Oscar-winner Atticus Ross, the original score debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, marking their first film score to achieve commercial success.
Nine Inch Nails made its mark with Pretty Hate Machine, which reached No. 75 on the Billboard 200 and helped shape a new wave of synth-driven heavy music.
The band has appeared 18 times on the all-genres albums chart, including two No. 1 albums: The Fragile (1999) and With Teeth (2005), each topping the chart for one week.
Reznor and Nine Inch Nails are currently on the second leg of their “Peel It Back” tour.
The first leg started on June 15, 2025, in Dublin and ended with two shows at the Kia Forum, Los Angeles, in September.
The second leg of the North American tour will conclude on March 16 at the Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California.
Remaining 2026 tour dates:
• March 3 – Dallas, Texas
• March 6 – Glendale, Arizona
• March 7 – Las Vegas, Nevada
• March 9 – San Diego, California
• March 10 – Anaheim, California
• March 13 – Salt Lake City, Utah
• March 15 – San Francisco, California
• March 16 – Sacramento, California
Fans have these final chances to see the band live, possibly during Nine Inch Nails’ last tour, as suggested by Reznor.
