Tom Hardy's $250M Epic Dominates Streaming After Big Box Office Run!

Thirteen years after its initial release, Christopher Nolan's trilogy-concluding Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, has become a massive streaming sensation, solidifying Tom Hardy's path to stardom. The film, which features Hardy opposite Christian Bale and Gary Oldman, is currently available for streaming on HBO Max and Tubi in the U.S. Globally, it has re-entered the VOD top 10 in various countries, including Panama and Yemen, demonstrating its enduring popularity.

Despite its critical acclaim, with scores of 87% from critics and 90% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, The Dark Knight Rises often ranks just behind its predecessor, The Dark Knight, within Nolan's highly regarded trilogy. Nevertheless, Tom Hardy's portrayal of the formidable villain Bane remains beloved by fans. Warner Bros.' substantial investment of around $250 million in the film proved worthwhile, as it went on to gross an impressive $1 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of Hardy's career.

The Dark Knight Rises marked the final installment in Christopher Nolan's iconic Batman trilogy, starring Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne. Following this monumental achievement, Nolan continued to direct critically acclaimed films across various genres. Two years after concluding his Batman saga, he helmed the acclaimed sci-fi epic Interstellar. He then ventured into the WWII genre with Dunkirk, a film recently lauded by Quentin Tarantino as one of his favorites. More recently, Nolan directed Tenet in 2020 and the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer in 2023.

Looking ahead, Christopher Nolan's next highly anticipated project is The Odyssey, a live-action adaptation of Homer’s famous story. This star-studded ensemble film, led by Matt Damon and Tom Holland, is slated for an exclusive theatrical release on July 17, 2026. The first trailer for The Odyssey was released earlier this year, and a preview is set to debut in theaters before Avatar: Fire and Ash. With Oppenheimer having secured seven Oscars, expectations are exceedingly high for Nolan's forthcoming epic, positioning The Odyssey as one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026.

Audiences can revisit The Dark Knight Rises on HBO Max or Tubi in America while anticipating further updates on Christopher Nolan's next ambitious film.
