Hollywood has been plunged into shock and grief following the brutal murders of acclaimed actor and director Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, 70, in their Los Angeles home. Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, with a special circumstance of multiple murders and a special allegation for the use of a dangerous weapon, a knife. He is currently being held without bail.

The bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered by their daughter, Romy Reiner, 27, on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 pm, who then contacted police and long-time family friend Billy Crystal. Law enforcement sources indicated that the couple had suffered fatal stab wounds, with their throats cut, and were likely attacked in their bed. Rigor mortis had already set in, suggesting they had been dead for several hours, likely between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Nick Reiner was arrested later that Sunday evening, with authorities determining he was responsible for their deaths. He was found at a Los Angeles subway station in Exposition Park, approximately 15 miles from the family's Brentwood mansion.
