Daniela Melchior, a standout star from James Gunn's 2022 DCEU film, The Suicide Squad, has recently spoken about her potential return to the new DCU. Melchior, who garnered significant fan appreciation for her portrayal of Ratcatcher 2, expressed her eagerness to reprise the role, stating, “I’m waiting for them to call me. I’m just patiently waiting.”

The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn, successfully rebooted the franchise, bringing back familiar faces like Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag Jr., while also introducing beloved new characters. Among these new additions were Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, John Cena’s Peacemaker, and Melchior’s Ratcatcher 2, who collectively infused the film with a fresh dynamic missing from its predecessor.

During an interview with Collider’s Aidan Kelley at the premiere of her new movie, Anaconda, Melchior further fueled speculation about her DCU comeback. She was enthusiastic about the prospect of Ratcatcher 2 appearing in a potential HBO Max original series, such as Lanterns or Peacemaker. “I've been manifesting. Just let it. Let’s light a candle,” she remarked, indicating her strong desire for the return.

James Gunn is known for collaborating with actors he trusts and enjoys working with, a category Melchior appears to fit into seamlessly. Her brief cameo in Gunn's MCU finale, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, further suggests a strong working relationship. This makes the return of Ratcatcher 2 seem more like a matter of 'when' rather than 'if,' with Gunn likely strategizing the optimal moment to reintroduce the character without making her return feel forced. There is also an implicit suggestion that Idris Elba’s Bloodsport could also return.

Beyond her DCEU involvement, Daniela Melchior has been busy with other major projects. She is featured in the upcoming Anaconda (2025) reboot, a modern take on the 1997 film. The new Anaconda movie stars Jack Black, Paul Rudd, and Silo veteran Steve Zahn, and is set to hit theaters this Christmas. Since her debut as Ratcatcher 2, Melchior has also taken on roles as Isabel in Fast X, Ursa in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Ellie in Road House (2024).
