Sakumono Horror: Hunt Intensifies for Suspects in Brutal Double Murder Over Alleged GH¢500K Debt

The Ghana Police Service is actively investigating a double homicide that occurred at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, Greater Accra Region, on Friday, October 30, 2026. The victims have been identified as 57-year-old George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, both of whom were found lying in a pool of blood at their residence.

Preliminary police investigations suggest that the tragic incident stemmed from a financial dispute. George Atuguba had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from Samuel Christopher Osei Anto but failed to repay the amount. On the morning of the incident, Osei Anto, accompanied by a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni, reportedly went to the victims’ residence to demand repayment. A misunderstanding allegedly escalated during this encounter, leading to Osei Anto shooting and killing both George and Irene Atuguba.

Following the discovery of the bodies, police officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to the scene. The two victims were rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a medical officer. Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations continue.

The Ghana Police Service has launched a comprehensive manhunt for Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, who has been declared the principal suspect in the killings. A reward of GH¢100,000 has been offered for credible information leading to his arrest. In connection with the incident, Beatrice Mumuni has been arrested, as she is believed to have led Osei Anto to the deceased’s residence before the murders. The Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with relevant information regarding Osei Anto's whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or use the emergency numbers 191 or 18555.
