Queen Latifah's Royal Return to AMA Stage After Three Decades!

Queen Latifah is slated to return as host for the 52nd American Music Awards, marking her third time leading the prestigious music event. She previously co-hosted the show in 1995 alongside Tom Jones and Lorrie Morgan. The upcoming ceremony, produced by Dick Clark Productions, is scheduled to air on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This venue represents the largest in the show's history, promising a grand celebration of music.
Expressing her excitement, Latifah stated, "I am so excited to return to the American Music Awards stage to host this year. It's been an incredible year for music and there is no better place to celebrate than in Vegas." Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, lauded Latifah as a "true powerhouse and trailblazer," emphasizing her dynamic presence and deep connection with both fans and artists, making her an ideal choice for the role.
Queen Latifah, 56, boasts an illustrious career spanning music, film, television, and production. She is a Grammy-winning artist and Oscar-nominated actress, having previously won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance for her song "U.N.I.T.Y." in 1995. Her hosting experience extends beyond the AMAs, including the Grammy telecast in 2005 and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2024, an event where she herself was a recipient in 2023. Further accolades include a Primetime Emmy, a Golden Globe, three Actor Awards (formerly Screen Actors Guild Awards), and two NAACP Image Awards. Her significant cultural impact was recognized in 2006 when she became the first hip-hop artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, followed by the National Medal of the Arts in 2024.
Nominations for the 52nd American Music Awards will be unveiled on Tuesday, April 14, with fan voting commencing on the same day and remaining open until May 8. The 51st American Music Awards, which aired last year on Memorial Day, achieved significant viewership, reaching over 10 million unique viewers across its CBS and Paramount+ premiere, as well as encores on MTV, CMT, and BET. The CBS broadcast alone marked the show’s largest audience since 2019, showing a substantial 38% increase over its last live airing on ABC in 2022. Tickets for the 52nd American Music Awards are currently available for purchase on AXS.
