Chicago Bulls Shake-Up: VP and GM Fired in Executive Overhaul

The Chicago Bulls have officially announced the dismissal of executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley. The move was made public on Monday, concluding their six-season tenure with the franchise. Hired at the beginning of the 2020-21 season, Karnisovas and Eversley oversaw a period where the Bulls achieved a combined record of 224-254. Under their leadership, the team managed only one winning season, in 2021-22, which also marked their sole playoff appearance. That postseason run ended in a five-game, first-round exit against the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022.
The current season reflects the challenges faced by the front office, with Chicago holding a 29-49 record and sitting in 12th place in the Eastern Conference. This outcome means the Bulls will miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. Despite a promising start to the season, where they began 5-0 and won six of their first seven games—a feat not seen since the Michael Jordan era—the team's performance steadily declined. This downturn was largely attributed to significant injury issues and was compounded by four separate losing streaks of at least five games throughout the season.
At the recent trade deadline, the Bulls made substantial changes to their roster, dealing away seven players, including fan favorites like Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu. Karnisovas had articulated the goal of these moves as an effort
