Political Firestorm: Wike Unleashes Scathing Attack on Makinde, Alleging Presidential Ambition Plot Amidst PDP-APM Alliance Chaos

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), unequivocally dismissed reports circulating about an alleged alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). Speaking to journalists during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Gomani-Yangoje, Kwali Area Council of Abuja, Wike branded these claims as "political 419." He specifically accused Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde of deliberately misleading the public with assertions of a PDP–APM alliance in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

Wike expressed his strong disapproval, stating, "When I say people are fraudulent, they thought I was joking. And that is the 419 we are talking about." He maintained with conviction that neither the PDP nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) possessed any knowledge or record of such an arrangement. "There is no alliance between the PDP and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), or any other political party. INEC also knows there is nothing called PDP–APM alliance," he reiterated, emphasizing the lack of official recognition for such a coalition.

Furthermore, Wike highlighted that the ongoing internal processes within the PDP, including the rigorous screening of aspirants, serve as clear evidence that the party operates independently and is not involved in any coalition discussions with the APM. He challenged observers to "watch out who will be submitted to INEC and see whether there is anything called PDP–APM." The FCT Minister went on to allege that Governor Makinde was leveraging the APM platform solely to further his personal presidential ambition, which Wike emphatically declared as "already dead on arrival." He also confirmed that Governor Bala Mohammed had never endorsed the concept of a PDP–APM alliance, describing such reports as purely politically fabricated.

In addition to these statements, Wike addressed comments attributed to the governor of Rivers State regarding his political affiliation. He insisted that these remarks had been misrepresented, clarifying, "Sorry for what? Why are you saying problem when nobody has told you he has a problem? The man has told you he still remains APC. So what is the problem now?" Wike asserted that all matters pertaining to the Rivers State governor’s political status are strictly internal party affairs that should not be misconstrued as a crisis or a source of public concern.
