Cannes Reveals Noomi Rapace's Next Thriller 'Run, With No Tears' Alongside Lone Scherfig Films!

French-Moroccan director Nabil Ayouch is set to begin filming his next project, "Run, With No Tears," a psychological thriller slated to commence production in September. The film boasts an international cast, featuring Noomi Rapace and Maryam Touzani in lead roles, and will be shot in both French and English. International sales for the project have been secured by Films Boutique, ahead of the anticipated Cannes market.

The compelling narrative of "Run, With No Tears" centers on two women who embark on a journey to Morocco with the intention of adopting another woman’s baby. The screenplay for this intriguing thriller was collaboratively penned by Maryam Touzani and Nabil Ayouch. Touzani, an acclaimed director herself, recently saw her film "Calle Málaga" achieve global sales success and earn the Audience Award at the Venice Film Festival.

This new film marks Nabil Ayouch's latest directorial effort following his 2024 film, "Everybody Loves Touda," which premiered at Cannes. Ayouch's distinguished filmography also includes the competition entry "Casablanca Beat," "Horses of God," which screened in Un Certain Regard, "Much Loved," a Director’s Fortnight entry, and "Razzia," which was presented at Toronto.

The production of "Run, With No Tears" is a collaborative international effort involving several companies: France’s Les Films du Nouveau Monde, Morocco’s Ali n’ Productions, Sweden’s Rainy Days, Belgium’s Velvet Films, and Norway’s Staer. The film is produced by Nabil Ayouch, alongside Amine Benjelloun from Morocco and Jean-Rémi Ducourtioux from France. Co-production credits go to Stella Härnström and Piodor Gustafsson in Sweden, Sebastian Schelenz in Belgium, and Elisa Fernanda Pirir in Norway. Significant support for the project has been provided by the Centre Cinématographique Marocain, the Belgian Tax Shelter, and the Swedish Film Institute, with Sweden’s Film i Väst also acting as a co-producer. Distribution rights are handled by Le Pacte in France, Cinéart in Belgium, and TriArt in the Nordic region.
