Published 6 hours ago7 minute read

Vin Diesel has announced that he will be bringing back Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner in the upcoming Fast & Furious installment, Fast 11. Walker’s final appearance came in Furious 7, as the actor tragically died in a car accident in 2013. His remaining scenes in the film were completed with the help of Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody as his stand-ins.

It is currently unclear how Diesel intends to bring Walker’s character back into the franchise. While we wait for any updates on that matter, it is worth noting that Walker earned more than $50 million from his appearances in the seven films of the franchise. Here is a breakdown of his salary for the Fast & Furious franchise.

Paul Walker was a model before he began his acting career. His first role in a film came in the late ’80s horror-comedy, Monster in Your Closet. He was cast as a lead in the short-lived CBS soap opera, The Young and the Restless. However, his first role that received widespread attention from the audience was in the 1998 film Meet the Deedles.

It was followed by supporting roles in a few movies, including Pleasantville, Varsity Blues, and The Skulls. He was slowly building a fan base among young fans through his roles. However, his biggest breakthrough in his career came in 2001 when he starred opposite Vin Diesel in The Fast and the Furious.

He played Brian O’Conner, an undercover cop who infiltrates Dominic Toretto’s street racing crew. However, his complex friendship with Dom puts his original mission in jeopardy. In 2 Fast 2 Furious, Walker appeared without Diesel. In this film, O’Conner leads a criminal life and helps law enforcement bring down a ruthless drug lord.

Walker didn’t appear in the third film, but both he and Diesel returned to the franchise in the film Fast & Furious. They appeared together in the next three films in the franchise, up until Furious 7.

During the filming of the seventh film in the franchise, Walker died in a car accident on November 30, 2013. The film was put on hold indefinitely, but later resumed production in April 2014. Walker’s scenes were completed with the help of CGI and his brothers, Caleb and Cody.

Walker was paid $1 million for his first appearance in the franchise, in which he was one of the leads. He made the same amount for the second film, in which he was the main lead. When he returned in 2009 for the film Fast & Furious, his salary went up to $7 million, which was a huge jump from his earlier paycheck.

However, it would double in the next film, Fast Five. The continued success of the franchise brought in a $15 million salary for the actor for Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, and Furious 7. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the actor netted a total of $54 million from the franchise before his death.

The Fast and the Furious (2001)$1 million$207.3 million
2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)$1 million$236.4 million
Fast & Furious (2009)$7 million$360.4 million
Fast Five (2011)$15 million$626.1 million
Fast & Furious 6 (2013)$15 million$788.7 million
Furious 7 (2015)$15 million$1.515 billion

The franchise proved Walker’s worth as a leading man and brought him other major roles. He appeared in films like Joy Ride, Into the Blue, Running Scared, Eight Below, and The Lazarus Project. He also appeared in a supporting role in Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers.

At the time of his death, Paul Walker had an estimated net worth of $25 million (via Celebrity Net Worth). He was included in Forbes‘ list of top-earning dead celebrities in 2014. Most of his earnings came from the Fast & Furious franchise. When he was alive, Walker spent his money to help those in need.

He and his charity, Reach Out Worldwide, helped victims of earthquakes in Chile and Haiti. Before his death, he attended a fundraiser to help victims of a typhoon in the Philippines. He even paid for a $9000 engagement ring for an Iraq vet. Besides his philanthropic activities, he also spent money on two of his hobbies: marine biology and cars.

He donated huge sums to marine-related causes and idolized marine explorer Jacques Cousteau. After his death, his family established the Paul Walker Foundation, which primarily benefits marine biology. It was reported that Walker owned about 30 cars. The Fast & Furious actor was obviously a car racing enthusiast.

His grandfather was a racecar driver. Walker’s car collection kept constantly changing, as he acquired new ones while selling old ones for huge profits. He had a dealer’s license, enabling him to maintain his garage as an active car showroom. He also sold high-end performance parts for these luxurious cars. Some of the cars in his collection featured in the Fast & Furious movies. His collection included:

He co-owned some of these cars with his financial advisor, Roger Rodas, who died alongside Walker in the accident. Interestingly, Walker’s car collection became the subject of a controversy after his death. His estate alleged car theft against Richard Taylor, who oversaw the collection at the time. It was claimed that Taylor removed 30 cars from their warehouse hours after Walker’s death.

These included a 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a 2008 BMW M3, and many other luxury cars. When Taylor presented the estate with a ‘Paul Walker Current Car Inventory List’, it only comprised 32 cars. The estate claimed in a lawsuit that at least seven known cars were missing from the collection. The lawsuit was settled amicably, with reports suggesting that some or all of the cars were returned to the estate.

Walker’s cars were auctioned by Barrett-Jackson in January 2020. At the end of the auction, 21 vehicles were sold for $2,333,450. The highest-priced car sold at the auction was his BMW M3 Lightweights, which earned $385,000. The proceeds from the auction went to his daughter, Meadow. She also kept a few of the cars from the collection for herself.

Paul Walker’s financial advisor, Roger Rodas, was driving Walker’s 2005 Porsche Carrera GT when they met with the accident. The car crashed into a concrete lamp post and two trees before bursting into flames. Both men died from their burns and multiple traumas. It was concluded that the speed of the car and old tires were the primary reasons for the crash.

Walker’s daughter, Meadow, filed a lawsuit against both the Rodas estate and Porsche after the actor’s death. His father, Paul Walker III, also filed lawsuits against both parties for wrongful death. According to the BBC, Meadow reached a settlement for $10.1 million with the Rodas estate in 2014. It was reported at the time that the money would be held in a trust for Meadow.

In a statement from Meadow’s lawyer, they shared that Rodas was only partly responsible for the crash. During the lawsuit, it was claimed that Walker would have earned $30-80 million from his film career had he lived. After the settlement, Meadow’s lawyer claimed that it represented a “fraction of what her father would have earned as an international movie star had his life not been tragically cut short.”

Meadow’s lawsuit against Porsche AG claimed that the company is “responsible for producing a vehicle that was defective and caused Paul Walker’s death”. The court sided with Porsche after investigators found out that the crash wasn’t caused by mechanical failure.

However, ABC reported that Meadow and Porsche resolved the lawsuit. They kept the terms of the settlement confidential. It was also reported that Paul Walker III’s lawsuit against the company was resolved.
