Obasanjo Endorses Obi-Kwankwaso for 2027; Momodu Weighs in on Atiku's Fate!
ADC chieftain Dele Momodu suggests that former President Olusegun Obasanjo may favor a Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket for the 2027 presidential election. Momodu also commented on the historical feud between Obasanjo and Atiku, emphasizing that political destiny will ultimately determine Nigeria's next president.
Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and publisher of Ovation magazine, recently shared insights into the potential alignments for the 2027 presidential election, suggesting that former President Olusegun Obasanjo appears to favor a Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket. Speaking on News Central TV on Monday, Momodu, a former presidential candidate, revealed that information from what he termed "impeccable sources" indicates Obasanjo's backing for former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Momodu expressed surprise at Obasanjo's reported preference, especially given the complex political history between Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who served together as president and vice president from 1999 to 2007. He noted that he had believed the long-standing disagreement between the two elder statesmen had been resolved after Obasanjo supported Atiku's presidential bid in the 2019 election. Momodu pondered, "I thought the issue had been laid to rest in 2019, so I do not know what resurrected that bitter feud between both of them.”
Despite these reported preferences, Momodu maintained that Obasanjo's influence would not necessarily dictate the outcome of the 2027 presidential election. He emphasized his belief in political destiny, stating that if Atiku Abubakar is destined to become President of Nigeria, no force would be able to prevent it. "If Atiku is destined to be President of Nigeria, no force will be able to stop it," Momodu affirmed.
The ADC chieftain has been vocal about the upcoming 2027 presidential contest, which is anticipated to feature prominent political figures. Key contenders expected to enter the race include the incumbent President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, indicating a potentially fiercely contested election.
