Mazda CX-5 Embraces AI: Google Gemini Integration Rocks 2027 Model
The 2027 Mazda CX-5 introduces Google Built-In with the Gemini AI assistant as a standard feature across its lineup, enhancing in-car technology and navigation. While the base model retains its starting price, other trims see moderate increases. The updated model hopes to address previous software issues and hints at a future hybrid powertrain option.
The 2027 Mazda CX-5, despite having entered a new generation just last year, introduces significant technological advancements and slight pricing adjustments.
While the base trim maintains its starting price, the rest of the lineup sees moderate increases.
A pivotal change for the 2027 model year is the standardization of Google Built-In across all trims, a feature previously unannounced for the new generation.
This integrated Google system includes the advanced Gemini AI assistant, which empowers drivers with conversational capabilities, allowing them to ask questions and issue commands naturally.
Furthermore, Google Maps navigation is now seamlessly integrated directly into the vehicle’s infotainment system, enhancing the user experience with familiar and robust navigation tools.
The base 2.5 S trim retains its 2026 MSRP of $31,585, reflecting Mazda’s strategy to keep an accessible entry point for the popular SUV. However, other trims will experience moderate price hikes.
For instance, the 2.5 S Select increases by $150 to $33,735, the 2.5 S Preferred by $300 to $36,145, and both the 2.5 S Premium and 2.5 S Premium Plus see a $550 increase, reaching $39,045 and $41,035 respectively.
These adjustments are attributed to the enhanced technology and features now standard across the range.

Under the hood, the 2027 CX-5 continues to be powered by a familiar 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, delivering 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Mazda has indicated plans to announce additional powertrain options in 2027, strongly suggesting that a hybrid version will finally be introduced to the CX-5 lineup, catering to growing demand for more fuel-efficient options.
Regarding interior technology, every trim level except the top-tier Premium Plus comes standard with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, supporting wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Crucially, Google Built-In, encompassing Google Maps and the updated Gemini AI assistant, is also standard across these trims.
The Premium Plus stands out as the only trim to feature a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen and offers the convenience of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2027 Mazda CX-5 is expected to arrive at dealerships in the coming months. There is an anticipation that this updated model, particularly with the integration of Google Built-In, will address some of the software issues reported in the long-term 2026 Mazda CX-5.
Previous experiences included occasional screen blackouts, an insistent SOS button beep shortly after startup, and temporary unavailability of on-screen functions. The hope is that the new Google-powered infotainment system will not only be more useful but also more reliable.
