Manilow's Candid Revelation: Barry Manilow Gives Crucial Health Update Post Lung Cancer Diagnosis

Legendary Grammy-winning singer Barry Manilow recently shared encouraging news regarding his lung cancer diagnosis. In late December, the 82-year-old artist revealed that doctors had discovered a cancerous spot on one of his lungs, necessitating the postponement of his scheduled January concerts to commence treatment.
On Friday, January 2nd, Manilow, famously known for hits like “Copacabana,” provided a positive update via an Instagram post. The update featured a grinning selfie, seemingly taken from a hospital bed where he was wearing a gown, accompanied by a text message bubble that simply read, “Better today!”
Approximately two weeks prior, Manilow had announced his diagnosis through a statement on his social media platforms. He explained that after enduring six weeks of bronchitis, followed by a five-week relapse, his doctor ordered an MRI despite him being back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas. The MRI scan subsequently revealed the cancerous spot on his left lung, which required surgical removal. Manilow expressed his gratitude, stating it was “pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,” considering it “the good news.”
The singer further elaborated that he would undergo surgery to remove the cancer, and importantly, doctors did not believe it had spread. He was also undergoing additional tests to confirm this diagnosis, emphasizing that he would not require chemotherapy or radiation, joking that his recovery would involve “Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
Manilow also extended an apology to his fans for the necessity of postponing his January performances. Looking ahead, he expressed anticipation for his return to the Westgate Las Vegas for Valentine’s weekend concerts on February 12th, 13th, and 14th, with plans to continue performing throughout 2026. He optimistically stated, “Something tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party!” He concluded his message by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and underscored the importance of proactive health monitoring, advising fans, “And remember, if you have even the slightest symptom… get tested!”
