Google AI's Agentic Leap: Your Personal Assistant for Event Tickets & Beauty Bookings

Google has officially announced the rollout of advanced agentic capabilities within its AI Mode, an integral feature embedded directly into Google Search. This enhancement empowers users to delve deeper into topics by posing complex questions and engaging in follow-up inquiries. The latest additions to AI Mode significantly expand its utility, allowing users to effortlessly book event tickets and schedule beauty and wellness appointments.

For instance, a user can initiate a query such as, “Find me two cheap tickets for the Shaboozey concert coming up. Prefer standing floor tickets.” In response, AI Mode will meticulously search across a multitude of websites, identifying real-time ticket options that precisely match the user's specific requirements. It then presents a carefully curated list of ticket prices, providing direct links to the booking pages for final purchase.

These innovative agentic capabilities are currently accessible to all users who have opted into Google's experimental platform, Search Labs, within the United States. Furthermore, subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra tiers benefit from higher usage limits, enhancing their experience with these cutting-edge features.

The introduction of agentic functionalities is not entirely new to AI Mode. Google first integrated such capabilities in August, primarily for streamlining restaurant reservations. This initial implementation allowed users to request dinner reservations based on a wide array of preferences, including party size, specific date and time, desired location, and preferred cuisine.

An example query for restaurant bookings might be, “Find me a dinner reservation for three people this Friday after 6 p.m. around Logan Square. Craving ramen or bibimbap.” AI Mode efficiently scans various reservation platforms to unearth real-time availability for restaurants that align with the inquiry, subsequently presenting a curated selection of suitable options.

Google underscores its commitment to quality and safety, stating on its Search Labs page that its “priority in Google Search is connecting you with high-quality information you can rely on.” While acknowledging that “this new mode is rooted in our core quality and safety systems,” the company also cautions that “it’s still an early experiment and may make mistakes,” reflecting the ongoing development nature of these advanced AI features.

AI Mode itself was initially launched in March, positioned as Google's response to the growing popularity of services like Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search. Since its debut, Google has rapidly expanded AI Mode's reach to more than 180 countries and continuously enriched it with new functionalities. Recent enhancements include a Canvas feature designed to assist users in building study plans and organizing information across multiple sessions via a side panel. Additionally, AI Mode now incorporates Google Lens, enabling users to ask questions about the content displayed on their desktop screen, further bridging the gap between visual information and AI-driven insights.
