Festival King: Post Malone Makes History as First Artist to Headline Coachella AND Stagecoach

Post Malone has solidified his unique presence in the music festival landscape of Indio, California, consistently elevating his role at both Coachella and Stagecoach over recent years. His journey began in 2023 as a surprise guest during Bad Bunny’s headlining set at Coachella. By 2024, he was booked to perform at Stagecoach, teasing his entry into country music. The ascent continued into 2025 when he headlined Coachella, ultimately returning to close out the third and final night of Stagecoach on April 26. This remarkable progression crowned Post Malone as the first artist in history to headline both Coachella and Stagecoach, a feat made even more impressive by achieving it in back-to-back years.
Paul Tollett, president and CEO of Goldenvoice, the promoter for both festivals, highlighted Post Malone's exceptional versatility. “It makes sense that Post has headlined both events,” Tollett stated, emphasizing his comfort in performing for vastly different audiences. Stacy Vee, Goldenvoice/AEG executive VP, recalled the impact of his 2024 Stagecoach debut, where he performed a set of country covers. Despite not having released a solo country project at the time, his performance resonated deeply with Stagecoach fans. Vee wasted no time in planning his return for a headlining role after that successful weekend.
For his 2025 Stagecoach headlining performance on Sunday night, Post Malone showcased his biggest country hits from his 2024 album "F-1 Trillion." The set included the Country Airplay chart-topper “Pour Me a Drink” and the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “I Had Some Help.” Interestingly, despite previous teasers to Billboard about a second upcoming country album, possibly titled "The Eternal Buzz," no new music was introduced during his Stagecoach set. Nevertheless, Tollett observed that Post Malone managed to craft a show that felt distinctly different from his Coachella headlining performance just a year prior, demonstrating his unique ability to tailor his live show to the specific setting.
Vee further attested to Post Malone's genuine connection to the country genre, remarking, “I feed off of his energy. He is so genuinely happy to be in the country space when out at the show.” Her admiration extended to his overall artistry: “There’s nothing Post Malone can’t do, and he does it all with total sincerity, versatility and commitment. Whatever he does, he does it his own way.” This singular approach is precisely why Tollett expressed his desire to “see him again in the desert – it’s always a good time.” Fans can anticipate more from Post Malone next month as he embarks on his "Big Ass Stadium Tour Part 2," joined by Jelly Roll and opener Carter Faith.
