Drake's Wild 40th: Jeff Ross Delivers Savage Surprise Roast in Houston!
Drake celebrated his 40th birthday with a star-studded bash in New York City and a surprise roast from Jeff Ross in Houston. Despite his wish for Jim Carrey, Ross delivered the laughs, while a Backstreet Boys performance highlighted the NYC party. The celebration caps off a busy 2026 for Drake, marked by his historic Billboard 200 achievement with three albums.
Drake recently celebrated his 40th birthday with a series of high-profile events, extending from New York City to Houston. The celebrations included a surprise birthday roast, though not by his desired roaster, Jim Carrey. Instead, the "6 God" was ribbed by the Roastmaster General, Jeff Ross, during a party in Houston on Tuesday, October 27th.
Jeff Ross documented the occasion with a selfie alongside Drake, shared on his Instagram Story with the caption, "Drake enjoying his surprise birthday roast in Houston tonight," soundtracked by ICEMAN’s “National Treasures.” Drake reciprocated by reposting the photo, referring to Ross as “The F–king General.” While clips from the roast have not yet surfaced online, the event fulfilled a birthday wish for the rapper, albeit with a different comedian.
Drake's aspiration for a Jim Carrey roast stemmed from an earlier incident in September, where Carrey playfully roasted Ross for his 61st birthday. Ross had shared the clip, inviting fans to "KEEP ROASTING ME IN THE COMMENTS BELOW ! ROASTING IS LOVE !” Drake, upon seeing Carrey's jabs, particularly one about Ross's birth, had commented on Instagram, "Wow this is now all I want for my birthday." Despite not getting Carrey, Ross ensured Drake's entry into his 40s was properly marked with humor.
The birthday festivities commenced in Toronto and continued throughout the weekend in New York City. Drake hosted approximately 400 guests at Casa Cipriani in Manhattan, where a major highlight was a surprise performance by the Backstreet Boys. Drake himself joined the iconic boy band on stage for a rendition of their 1999 hit, "I Want It That Way." Addressing his guests, Drake reflected on the significance of the moment, stating, "Tonight isn’t about a tour, an album release, or a bunch of videos we shot. It’s about being alive, staying alive.” The evening also saw guests leaving with designer gifts and cash prizes, which were raffled off.
The year 2026 has been notable for Drake beyond his birthday celebrations. Earlier in May, he released a trifecta of albums: ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR. These releases made history as Drake became the first artist to simultaneously occupy the top three slots of the Billboard 200 chart with all three albums at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 respectively.
