Drake Dominates Down Under: Superstar Shatters ARIA Chart Records!

Canadian hip-hop superstar Drake has made history on Australia's ARIA Albums Chart by becoming the first artist to land three new albums in the top 10 in the same week since the charts commenced in 1983. His latest releases, Iceman, Maid Of Honour, and Habibti (all via Republic/Universal), debuted at No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6, respectively, showcasing an unprecedented level of chart dominance. This remarkable achievement surpasses previous records held by iconic acts such as Guns N’ Roses, who had two albums debut in the top two spots in 1991, and Bruce Springsteen, who achieved a similar feat with two albums in 1992.

This triple-threat debut expands Drake's already impressive discography, bringing his total count of solo and collaborative top 10 albums to 16. His previous chart-topping albums include 'Views' (2016), 'Scorpion' (2018), 'Dark Lane Demo Tapes' (2020), 'Certified Lover Boy' (2021), and 'For All The Dogs' (2023), solidifying his consistent presence at the pinnacle of the music industry.

Drake's impact wasn't limited to the album charts; his new releases also significantly influenced the ARIA Singles Chart. A staggering 15 Drake singles entered the ARIA Top 50 this week, with five of them securing spots within the top 10: "National Treasures" at No. 4, "Janice STFU" at No. 5, "Whisper My Name" at No. 6, "Make Them Cry" at No. 9, and "Dust" at No. 10. These new entries bring Drake tantalizingly close to reaching 100 career top 50 hits in Australia, currently boasting 98 appearances. His past No. 1 singles in the region include "One Dance" (featuring Wizkid and Kyla) from 2016, and "God’s Plan," "Nice For What," and "In My Feelings" from 2018. Meanwhile, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” (Sony Music) maintained its hold on the No. 1 position on the Singles Chart for a second consecutive week.

Beyond Drake's monumental week, other artists also made significant debuts on the ARIA Albums Chart. Beloved Aussie rock-star Genesis Owusu achieved a career-best, with his third album 'Redstar Wu & The Worldwide Scourge' (Ourness) debuting at No. 3. This follows his critically acclaimed 2021 debut 'Smiling With Now Teeth' which peaked at No. 27, and his 2023 followup 'Struggler' which reached No. 4. British emo artist Yungblud's complete version of 'IDOLS' (Interscope/Universal) landed at No. 27, rising L.A. pop-country singer Stella Lefty's 'Is This Heaven?' (Warner Music) debuted at No. 28, and homegrown rock outfit Rose Carleo Band made their chart entry at No. 34 with their debut LP '42 Days' (Checked Label Services).
