Dolly Parton's Original Musical Set to Dazzle Broadway Stages!

Country music legend Dolly Parton officially announced that her highly anticipated production, "Dolly: A True Original Musical," is set to make its Broadway debut this winter. Parton herself shared the exciting news in a video posted on her social media channels on Tuesday, July 7, inviting fans to experience her authentic story on stage.

The musical, true to its title, promises an intimate and unfiltered look into Parton's life beyond the glitz and glamour. As she teased in her announcement, "This isn’t about a story about sparkle and shine on the outside. It’s about where I really come from: what I’ve lived, what I’ve lost, what I’ve loved and how I found my way and told it in my own words and through the music that’s been part of me through every step of the journey." The production will feature a blend of her iconic hits, such as "I Will Always Love You," "Jolene," and "9 to 5," alongside new original songs penned by Parton specifically for the show, fulfilling a long-held dream for the artist.

Broadway performances are scheduled to begin with preview showings on Monday, December 7, in New York City. The grand opening night is slated for Parton's 81st birthday, January 19, 2027, at the historic St. James Theatre, located at 246 West 44th Street. This eagerly awaited musical chronicles Parton's remarkable life and career trajectory, from her humble beginnings in East Tennessee to her monumental success in entertainment and business.

The creative team behind "Dolly: A True Original Musical" includes Parton herself, who co-wrote the book with two-time Emmy winner Maria S. Schlatter. The musical is directed by the acclaimed Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher. Production is helmed by Dolly Parton, Danny Nozell, Adam Speers for ATG Production, and Gavin Kalin Productions, with 101 Productions, Ltd. serving as the general manager. The musical previously saw its world premiere last summer at Nashville’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Belmont University, where it garnered significant audience acclaim.

Reflecting on the Nashville premiere, director Bartlett Sher remarked on the profound connection audiences felt with Parton, noting, "You mention her name and people light up and share a time that she has inspired them and brought them joy." He emphasized that the musical offers Parton a unique platform to reveal her "unfiltered story in her own words," moving beyond the public perception that "rhinestones were never her whole story." Tickets for "Dolly: A True Original Musical" will be available with a special pre-sale access for eligible Capital One cardholders, starting July 8 at 10 a.m. ET and running through July 10 at 9:59 a.m. ET. General public ticket sales will commence on July 10 at 10 a.m. ET via the musical’s official website. Initial ticket sales are set to continue through Sunday, November 21, 2027, offering ample opportunity for fans to secure their seats for this Broadway spectacle.
