Crypto Bull Run Incoming? Bitwise CIO Predicts Bitcoin to Soar by Year-End!

Bitcoin's market outlook is currently a subject of intense debate among experts, with some predicting a significant surge while others maintain a more cautious stance. Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise, holds a strong bullish view, asserting that Bitcoin is poised to finish the year considerably higher. Hougan's optimism stems from the observation that "bad news has stopped moving the market," indicating that "the sellers are gone," a condition he believes marks a market bottom.

Furthermore, Hougan highlights the continuous growth in institutional exposure to Bitcoin. A Bitwise executive supports this by stating that the amount of Bitcoin allocated by institutions under a conventional 1% portfolio-allocation framework has effectively quadrupled or quintupled, now ranging between 4% and 5%.

Adding weight to the bullish argument, data from blockchain analytics platform Santiment reveals a significant trend of accumulation by Bitcoin's largest holders. The number of wallets holding at least 10,000 BTC is reportedly rebounding to a six-month high. Santiment's data indicates that 90 wallets currently possess a minimum of 10,000 BTC, representing a net increase of six such wallets, or a 7.1% rise, over the past eight weeks. Conversely, smaller wallets have been observed to be losing their share of Bitcoin's supply throughout August. Santiment attributes some of the resulting retail pessimism to concerns surrounding recent Coldcard hacks and delays associated with the Clarity Act, emphasizing that Bitcoin's supply is increasingly concentrating among its largest holders.

However, the expert community is not entirely in agreement. Crypto trader DonAlt echoes a bullish sentiment, seeing signs that Bitcoin could be on the verge of a major upward movement. DonAlt commented on X (formerly Twitter) that the market "looks like it wants to explode," suggesting that only a minor push might be necessary for Bitcoin to overcome its current resistance levels and advance to the next significant price point.

In contrast, veteran trader Peter Brandt presents a more conservative perspective. As reported by U.Today, Brandt, if compelled to wager on Bitcoin's immediate future, would lean towards a decline. He noted on X, "I am not in the bet yet, but if I were to bet it would be for a decline." Brandt's cautious outlook is partly influenced by the potential formation of a head-and-shoulders pattern that developed between April and June, a technical indicator often associated with a bearish reversal.
