Charli XCX Unleashes New B-Side Track on 'Rock Music' Vinyl

Charli XCX has released a new track titled “I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night,” which serves as the B-side to her single “Rock Music” on its vinyl release. This introspective song delves into themes of obsession and identity, with Charli pondering her sexuality by musing, “maybe I could be gay,” only to add, “I’m probably not.” She further explores this by questioning an unnamed muse, “I’ve always wondered if you were actually gay/ Or if that’s somеthing you just say for your career.” This suggests a desire to potentially emulate or deeply understand the object of her fascination.
The track, characterized by its minimalist production and a fleeting runtime of just 1:32, opens with an experimental artistic reference to the mid-century French New Wave movement: “Maybe we could become each other/ Like somethin’ out of a Jacques Rivette movie or somethin’.” Despite the hazy nature of her obsession's root and object, Charli, who is married to George Daniel of The 1975 in her personal life, makes her central theme clear with the repetitive chorus: “I keep thinkin’ ’bout you, every single day/ I keep thinkin’ ’bout you, еvery single night.”
Accompanying the song is a black-and-white video, shot in Kyoto, Japan, using a single handheld camera. The video adopts a voyeuristic style, capturing Charli sensually ascending a stairwell and rolling around a dance studio floor, enhancing the intimate and personal feel of the track.
“I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night” was announced on Charli's side Instagram account, @b.sides, on a Saturday (May 8), a day after the debut of “Rock Music.” Charli used this platform, typically reserved for behind-the-scenes content, to inform fans about the B-side and its video, encouraging them to “rip the audio if you want it xx” as it's only officially available on vinyl and via her Instagram video. The “Rock Music” 7″ vinyl quickly sold out on Charli’s official webstore, though limited quantities were made available at select record stores in the U.S., U.K., and France. Currently, the track is not available on any music streaming services, making the Instagram video the primary official means of listening.
