Zambia's Vice President Mutale Nalumangoescaped unhurt after the helicopter carrying her crash-landed shortly after takeoff in Nakonde, Muchinga Province, during an official working visit and campaign tour.

The aircraft reportedly developed problems about two minutes after departure, forcing it to make an emergency landing roughly 50 metres above the ground. Nalumango, the flight crew, and the seven other occupants all survived the incident without serious injuries and were safely evacuated.

The Vice President was taken to a nearby medical facility for precautionary checks before being discharged in good health. Confirming the incident, Nalumango said all eight people on board were safe, describing their survival as an act of divine protection.

In a statement, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick K. Kangwa also confirmed the accident, commending the Zambia Air Force crew for their professionalism and praising emergency responders and residents of Nakonde for their swift assistance.

The helicopter was travelling from Nakonde to Isoka District for campaign engagements as part of the Vice President's working tour of Muchinga Province. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash in line with standard aviation procedures.

The government has assured the public that Nalumango remains in good health and is expected to continue her official programme while urging citizens to rely on verified information as investigations continue.
