Woltemade's Swift Comfort: New Newcastle Star Settles In Immediately

Nick Woltemade, the 6ft 6in forward, quickly found his stride and felt at home upon his arrival at Newcastle United following a club-record transfer from Stuttgart last month. His experience was unique, as for the first time in his career, he realized he was not the tallest player in the dressing room. This observation highlights a significant characteristic of the current Newcastle squad, which boasts several imposing figures.
Alongside the towering Dan Burn, who stands at an impressive 6ft 7in, Woltemade is surrounded by other physically dominant players. These include Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, Joelinton, and William Osula. While these players may not all be on the pitch simultaneously, their collective presence gives Newcastle all the essential ingredients to pose a formidable threat from set-pieces.
However, despite this apparent advantage in height and physical stature, Eddie Howe's team has not yet managed to consistently convert this potential into goals from set-play situations this season. The Newcastle head coach openly addressed this challenge prior to their crucial match against Arsenal, a team renowned for its proficiency in set-pieces.
Howe articulated his frustration, stating, "We have the players, we have the height and we have the delivery. But something is not quite clicking, and that's not a criticism of any coach. That's a criticism of me. I'm ultimately responsible for it. We can do better in that respect and we will do the work to try and be better." His comments underscore the team's commitment to improving this aspect of their game, recognizing the untapped potential that their physical attributes offer.
