William's Heartbreak: Prince Opens Up on Kate's Cancer Battle

Prince William recently made a rare television appearance on Canadian comedian Eugene Levy's new show, 'The Reluctant Traveller,' where he candidly described the year 2024 as the "hardest year of his life." The Prince of Wales joined Levy as the actor journeyed to London for a Royal experience, with a fresh snippet from the Apple TV+ programme, set to premiere on October 3, showcasing their interaction.
Levy, known for 'Schitt's Creek,' was treated to a personal tour of Windsor Castle by Prince William after receiving a handwritten note from him. William light-heartedly remarked, "We provide this service for everyone. We do personalised tours everywhere," before they explored the estate. Following their tour, the two headed to a local pub, where William openly discussed the profound challenges his family has endured over the past year. He specifically referenced the recent cancer diagnoses of both King Charles and Princess Kate, which occurred within weeks of each other.
In a heartfelt moment from the clip, William confessed, "I'd say 2024 was the hardest year I've ever had. You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are." These remarks echo sentiments he shared late last year during a solo trip to South Africa in November, where he previously spoke about his wife's and father's battles with cancer. In that remarkably candid interview, William praised the immense courage shown by Kate and Charles, while acknowledging the severe toll their health struggles had taken on the entire family. He had stated at the time, "Honestly? It's been dreadful. It's probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult. But I'm so proud of my wife, I'm proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it's been brutal."
Throughout his recent conversation with Levy, William also revealed that his Royal responsibilities had paradoxically provided a source of comfort during such challenging periods. He admitted to grappling with the difficulty of juggling his home life and professional commitments, explaining, "I couldn't be less relaxed this year. It's more a case of just crack on and you've got to keep going. I enjoy my work and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure that I have got time for my family too."
Eugene Levy's programme, 'The Reluctant Traveller,' follows the Canadian performer as he embarks on a quest to discover what constitutes the "ultimate travel bucket list." His journey takes him across various global destinations including Canada, the US, Austria, England, India, Ireland, Mexico, and South Korea. The series also features other notable participants such as Canadian vocalist Michael Bublé, Eugene's daughter and fellow 'Schitt's Creek' actor Sarah Levy, K-pop group NOWZ, and former Indian cricket star Rahul Dravid.
