Unfiltered Mum: Throwing a £2k Party When Kids Leave for Uni

Carla Bellucci, a mother of two teenagers, is generating discussion with her controversial views regarding her children's imminent departure from home. The 44-year-old, who has previously been labeled ‘Britain’s most hated mum’ due to her outspoken opinions, has openly expressed profound excitement for her two eldest children, Tanisha (20) and Jayden (18), as they prepare to move out next month to attend university. Far from experiencing sadness or a sense of loss, Bellucci unequivocally stated, “I can’t wait for them to move out and won’t miss them in the slightest – I’m counting down the days,” eagerly anticipating their new independent lives.
Bellucci believes her children “drive me insane” and are ready for their own lives, a sentiment she acknowledges often evokes strong reactions from other mothers. She asserts that while a common perception dictates children should be a parent's entire focus, she has always maintained a balance, prioritizing herself alongside her children. “I think as parents, we are entitled to enjoy our lives,” Bellucci declared, further stating her anger at the notion that mothers must “give up your whole world for the kids.” This philosophy underpins her enthusiastic embrace of the ‘empty nest’ phase.
Moreover, Bellucci argues that her children’s transition to living independently is ultimately beneficial for them. She firmly believes it is essential for them to “grow up and get into the real world,” and critically views situations where adult children remain at home. “It’s not good to have your kids at home – I know people who have 30-year-old kids at home, and it’s not normal, and it’s holding them back,” she explained. She goes as far as to suggest it’s “cruel to keep them at home,” advocating for other mothers to “get busy and get their own life back.”
To commemorate this significant life event, Bellucci is planning a lavish celebration. She has allocated a budget of £2,000 for a grand BBQ party, which she describes as the “biggest party ever” to “celebrate hardcore.” The event promises “no expenses spared,” featuring champagne, a hot tub, and “good vibes,” as she intends to invite all her friends to “celebrate me getting my life back.” Having had her older children at 21 and raised them independently, Bellucci feels her life is “just beginning” and eagerly anticipates her “me-me-me era,” which includes plans for extensive world travel in the coming year.
While she looks forward to the peace and quiet of a home without teenagers – anticipating “no more arguments or stinky teens or rubbish music banging,” and the freedom to enjoy a glass of wine at her leisure without judgment – Bellucci also expressed genuine pride in her eldest children for successfully gaining university admissions and embarking on their journey towards independence. With only her two younger children remaining at home, she anticipates a significant shift in her household dynamics and embraces the prospect of a more carefree lifestyle.
