Trump's Controversial 'Country of Concern' Tag Ignites Nigeria's Fury Over Christian Genocide Claims

United States President Donald Trump announced the designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” citing an alleged existential threat to Christianity within the nation. This decision, conveyed via Truth Social and later re-affirmed on October 31 by his administration, was based on claims that thousands of Christians were being killed by radical Islamists in Nigeria. Trump stated, “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN.”
He further elaborated on the severity of the situation, noting, “When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!” President Trump called upon Congressman Riley Moore, Chairman Tom Cole, and the House Appropriations Committee to immediately investigate the matter and report back to him, emphasizing that the United States “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!”
