Travis Scott Fuels Hype with Tease of 'Amazing' New Album

Travis Scott is currently experiencing a peak in his multifaceted career, following his involvement in Christopher Nolan’s film, "The Odyssey." His momentum continued with a feature on the cover of Variety, where he delved into various aspects of his professional life, including his highly anticipated upcoming album and a significant first-look deal with Paramount Pictures.

Scott articulated his core artistic philosophy, stating, "I’m here to conquer who I am as an artist. In these side quests — these cool things I like to do — I never lose sight of the main goal. I’m still trying to do every stadium in the United States and the world." This mindset is a driving force as he approaches his next record, which will be his first major release since 2023’s critically acclaimed album, "Utopia." He shared insights into his creative process for the new music, affirming, "I’m working on an album right now, and that’s f–king amazing. And I’m constantly pushing myself to push the sonics to try to make something that I haven’t made before."

When discussing his current musical inspirations, La Flame revealed an eclectic mix of artists, including Parliament, Oasis, Van Halen, Don Toliver, Raphael Saadiq, and Daft Punk. His ambition extends beyond just sound; he aims to enhance the live concert experience. "I need to double down on trying to make something that can reach the person that’s all the way back in the bowl, so how do I reach them like the person that’s right next to me," Scott elaborated. "So that’s what I’m on — trying to elevate the show to a more theater aspect. Stay tuned on how that’s going to happen. Utopia was supposed to be a play. I want to try to bring back true experiences before they try to take them all down and make everything digital."

His previous album, "Utopia," released in 2023, was a commercial success, topping the Billboard 200 by earning 496,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week, as reported by Luminate. The project also received a nomination for Best Rap Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards, although it ultimately lost to Killer Mike’s "Michael." Scott, at 35, has been transparent about his long-standing goal to win a Grammy, an award that has eluded him despite accumulating 10 nominations throughout his career.

Beyond music, Scott is now eyeing an Academy Award. This aspiration comes into sharper focus with his collaboration with James Blake and Ludwig Göransson on "When I’m Home," a track featured on "The Odyssey" soundtrack that plays during the film’s ending credits. "I still need a Grammy, but I would love to take home an Oscar. That’d be cool," he confessed to Variety. "I like to set goals, and I just want to achieve them. I noticed the people that get them always have that like, ‘It doesn’t matter.’ To me, the award represents something, and to achieve that would be amazing."

Furthering his pursuit of cinematic achievements, Scott discussed his company, Cactus Jack, securing a first-look deal with Paramount Pictures. He articulated his vision for this partnership: "I want to bring back amazing films, pictures and just creative good ideas," adding that Paramount is "not scared to make good ideas." This deal will empower Cactus Jack to develop a diverse range of projects spanning film, television, theater, and live-entertainment. Paramount Pictures co-chair Josh Greenstein, who reportedly connected with Scott over their shared appreciation for "The Warriors," praised the artist, telling Variety, "Creativity emanates from every pore of his body. From the way he dresses to the cars to the music to his taste in film."
