Tottenham Star Bissouma Investigated Amidst Nitrous Oxide Claims

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has initiated an internal investigation following allegations that their midfielder, Yves Bissouma, was filmed inhaling nitrous oxide. The claims surfaced after The Sun newspaper published footage purportedly showing the 29-year-old Mali international engaging in the act. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas or NOS, is a substance that has led to previous disciplinary actions against the player.
A spokesperson for the club confirmed to BBC Sport, stating, "We are looking into the events and it will be dealt with as an internal matter." This indicates that Tottenham is taking the allegations seriously and plans to address the situation through its established internal protocols rather than making public statements on the specifics of the investigation at this stage.
This is not the first instance where Bissouma has faced scrutiny over his alleged use of nitrous oxide. In 2023, the midfielder, who joined Tottenham from Brighton in a £30 million transfer in 2022, was reportedly pictured inhaling the substance. That incident resulted in a one-game ban imposed by Spurs, highlighting a pattern of behavior that the club has previously addressed. The recurrence of such claims could lead to further internal disciplinary measures, underscoring the club's commitment to maintaining professional conduct among its players.
The ongoing investigation will likely examine the veracity of the footage and the circumstances surrounding it, as well as considering Bissouma's history with similar allegations. The outcome of this internal review will determine any potential consequences for the player, impacting his standing within the squad and the club's overall public image.
