Terem Moffi Sparks Transfer Frenzy! Five European Giants Eye Super Eagles Star After OGC Nice Stance

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has been definitively informed that there is no future for him at his current Ligue 1 club, OGC Nice. This development was confirmed by the club’s co-president, Maurice Cohen, in an interview on Tuesday. This marks the end of a three-year relationship that began promisingly but saw a decline towards its conclusion. During his tenure with Les Aiglons, Moffi made 72 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing five assists.
Despite having one year remaining on his contract, Nice has explicitly stated that the Nigerian forward will not be playing for them next season. This situation leaves questions surrounding Moffi’s next career move. The 26-year-old striker, who will turn 27 next month, is currently on loan at Porto, having joined them in January. However, his time at Porto has been marked by a struggle to secure a regular starting position, with most of his 14 appearances coming off the bench. Consequently, it appears unlikely that Porto will opt to make his stay permanent.
Given these circumstances, Soccernet.ng has explored five potential clubs that could make a move for Moffi this summer.
1. Lens: This season’s surprise package, Lens, is currently challenging PSG for the Ligue 1 title, sitting in second place and trailing the champions by only four points. As they prepare for next season, they will undoubtedly require additional firepower to compete effectively in both the league and domestic cup competitions. Moffi presents a logical option due to his extensive experience in Ligue 1 and his likely availability at an affordable price point.
2. Fenerbahçe: The Turkish club, known as the Yellow Canaries, will be actively seeking a new striker this summer, especially with the anticipated departure of Talisca. With European qualification already secured, Fenerbahçe will need a deeper squad to navigate a demanding fixture list. To reclaim the Süper Lig title and contend on the continental stage, they must replace outgoing players with proven quality. Moffi represents a budget-friendly opportunity, potentially being acquired for less than €10 million, a deal that could be too attractive to pass up.
3. Marseille: Olympique Marseille should also be closely monitoring Moffi’s situation. Their star striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, will be 37 next season. Although the Gabonese international’s contract expires at the end of next year, the club needs to prioritize establishing a robust succession plan. Moffi has been linked with Marseille in the past, and this summer provides a prime opportunity to sign him at a cut-price. Given his familiarity with the French game, he would arrive as a 'plug-and-play' option, offering significant experience from day one.
4. Lazio: Traditionally a powerhouse in Italian football and a consistent contender for European competitions, Lazio faces a challenging path to continental qualification this year unless they emerge victorious against Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia. As the Biancocelesti aim for a resurgence next season, they will be in need of physical, high-quality reinforcements. Moffi’s profile appears tailor-made for Italian football; he is rugged, possesses strong hold-up play, and demonstrates good link-up capabilities with teammates. Crucially for Lazio, he offers a cost-effective solution and, on his best day, has the quality to lead the line ahead of current options such as Tijjani Noslin or Boulaye Dia.
5. Paris FC: The newly promoted Ligue 1 side should also have the Super Eagles star on their radar. Paris FC has found success by identifying established Ligue 1 talent and seamlessly integrating them into their cohesive system. The club was strongly linked with Moffi in January but ultimately failed to finalize a deal. Now that a transfer appears easier to facilitate, they are expected to reignite their interest. Under a coach like Antoine Kombouaré, who has a proven track record for maximizing the potential of his attackers, Moffi could very well rediscover his top form.
