Taylor Swift Unleashes Exclusive Vinyl for Record Store Day Fans

Taylor Swift continues her tradition of supporting local vinyl shops through Record Store Day (RSD), with a significant special release announced for the 2026 iteration. On Monday, March 2, it was revealed that Swift would be releasing an exclusive 7-inch single for "Elizabeth Taylor," a fan-favorite track from her 2025 Billboard 200-topping album, The Life of a Showgirl.

This exclusive single will feature "Elizabeth Taylor" — the third track on the acclaimed album — isolated from the rest of the LP and pressed onto a striking galactic purple-and-blue vinyl. The announcement, shared on RSD's Instagram, teased the release with the phrase, "Record Store Day just got… So Glamorous," alongside a glimpse of the product's black-and-white cover art. Officially titled the "Cry My Eyes Violet Glitter" vinyl, its name directly references a poignant lyric from the song itself.

"Elizabeth Taylor" originally debuted on October 3, alongside The Life of a Showgirl, an album that impressively spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the albums chart. While other tracks from the LP, such as "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Opalite," have topped the Billboard Hot 100, "Elizabeth Taylor" made a strong debut at No. 3 on the tally. As its title suggests, the song draws profound inspiration from the life of one of Swift's personal idols, the legendary Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor, known for her indigo eyes and iconic roles in films like Cleopatra and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Following the song's initial release, Elizabeth Taylor’s son, Christopher Wilding, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Swift’s tribute to his mother. In October, he remarked, “They are both the very embodiment of female empowerment. The way [Swift] has deftly captured the similarities and parallel tracks in their careers and personal lives is delightful,” highlighting the depth and sensitivity of Swift's homage.

Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner, is renowned for her consistent participation in Record Store Day, an event dedicated to facilitating special vinyl releases at independent record shops. Her previous contributions include the "Fortnight" single disc with Post Malone, which was one of last year's top sellers, and the 2022 RSD release of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions on vinyl, which significantly impacted Billboard charts. This spring, music enthusiasts can mark their calendars for Record Store Day, set to take place on April 18, 2026, where the "Elizabeth Taylor" vinyl is expected to be a highly sought-after item.
