Turner added that it would have been unrealistic to show Lauren not immediately connecting to Wi-Fi, underscoring the ubiquity of online connectivity.

She described the experience as incredibly cathartic, allowing her to channel personal industry experiences into the role. Director Carlson Young revealed her cinematic inspirations for "Trust," citing Ridley Scott's "Alien" and the Coen Brothers' "Fargo." The "Alien" component resonated with the theme of isolation and the unsettling feeling of something changing within, a metaphor Young connected to Lauren's pregnancy. "Fargo" contributed to the film's unique tonal blend, where ancillary characters brought a comedic texture, particularly in scenes depicting a "comedy of errors" in a violent way, ultimately serving to mock predators. The role demanded significant physical preparation from Sophie Turner, including an unexpected underwater scene requiring freediving training. She revealed that the film is loosely based on the acclaimed Japanese film "Onibaba" and shares a vibe akin to "The Green Knight" – supernatural, weird, and genuinely scary. Working with Harington again was a "joy" and felt like reuniting with a "big brother," making the project a delightful excuse for them to spend time together.
