Zack Snyder Defends ‘Batman v Superman’ on 10-Year Anniversary

Filmmaker Zack Snyder marked the 10th anniversary of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by defending his creative vision against critics and so-called “toxic” fans. Despite polarizing reactions, the film grossed $874 million worldwide, solidifying its legacy.

Snyder emphasized artistic integrity over studio-driven compromises, asking, “Do you really want the Kmart version of your story?” He reflected on the challenges of the MPAA rating process and the controversial choices that divided audiences.

The director recounted the evolution of the SnyderVerse, including the fan-driven campaign that led to the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021. He praised his supporters, noting their fundraising for suicide prevention and defending them from accusations of toxicity.

While Snyder has not continued the DC Universe with additional films, he hinted at exploring new stories through comics or animation. He also expressed respect for the current leadership under James Gunn and Peter Safran, stating his trilogy exists independently with its own life.
