Kebbi High Court Judge Abducted by Gunmen in Midnight Attack
A Kebbi State High Court Judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, was abducted by bandits from his home in Bunza Local Government Area shortly after returning from a trip. The police have confirmed the incident and deployed tactical operatives to ensure his safe rescue, while the High Court management is collaborating with security agencies.
Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court has been abducted by gunmen from his residence along Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area of the state. The incident reportedly occurred around midnight shortly after the judge returned from a trip to Sokoto.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers fired sporadically during the operation but did not harm any other occupants of the house. The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the abduction through its spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, who disclosed that security operatives have been mobilised to rescue the judge.
Commissioner of Police Umar Muhammad Hadejia has deployed tactical and intelligence teams to comb identified locations, including surrounding forest areas, in search of the abductors.
The police said efforts are ongoing to ensure Justice Bunza is rescued alive and unharmed. Officials of the Kebbi State High Court have described the incident as a disturbing development for the judiciary.
The court's management has reportedly held meetings with heads of security agencies to coordinate efforts towards securing the judge's release. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the abduction as investigations continue.
