Shocking Confession: Music Teacher Admits Sex with 12-Year-Old Boy in Court

Naomi Tekea Craig, a 33-year-old married music teacher also known by her married name Naomi Woods, has confessed to engaging in a prolonged sexual relationship with a schoolboy. The relationship began on October 31, 2023, when the boy was 12 years old, and continued for approximately 14 months, ending on December 16, 2024. During this period, Craig allegedly continued the abuse even when she was eight months pregnant with the boy's child, by which time he was 13.
Craig appeared in Mandurah Local Court via audio link on Tuesday, where she pleaded guilty to a total of 15 charges. Magistrate Clare Cullen read the charges aloud, which encompassed multiple counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13, and, after the boy's 13th birthday, sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16.
Additional charges included indecent dealings with a child under 13 and possessing child exploitation material. Twelve of these incidents occurred in Silver Sands, Mandurah, with three others in nearby Meadow Springs. Craig confirmed her guilt to each charge.
At the time the relationship ended in December 2024, Craig was on maternity leave from her position as a music teacher at Frederick Irwin Anglican School, a private co-educational Anglican institution, and was approximately eight months pregnant with her second child. Her second child was born on January 8, 2025. A DNA sample from her placenta reportedly confirmed a link between the newborn and her young victim.
Craig was represented by Perth lawyer Reid Hogan, who informed Magistrate Cullen that his client chose to enter a plea despite not being required to do so on that day. Magistrate Cullen stated that Craig's guilty pleas would expedite her case to the District Court for a sentence mention listing, requiring her to attend in person for the next appearance. Bail was continued until her District Court appearance on March 27. Following these revelations, Craig is restricted from unsupervised visits with any children other than her newborn, including her older child.
The school's principal, Tracey Gray, sent a letter to parents and carers after Craig's arrest, confirming the alleged victim was not a student at Frederick Irwin Anglican School. Ms. Gray stated that the teacher had been instructed not to attend the school and that available information suggested no concern for other children at the school.
Ms. Craig's online work biography indicates she began employment at the school in 2024, having previously worked as an independent private music teacher. She grew up in Mandurah, completed a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Western Australia and a Diploma of Education from Edith Cowan University, and married her long-time partner in Melbourne in 2019, welcoming her first child three years later.
