Shakira Shatters Records with Epic 12-Night Stadium Run in Mexico

Colombian superstar Shakira made history by concluding a monumental series of 12 sold-out concerts at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City on Thursday (Sept. 18), as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. This achievement marks the most shows ever performed by a single tour at the iconic venue, previously known as Foro Sol. The unparalleled success saw Shakira selling out the capital’s stadium a dozen times, attracting 65,000 attendees each night, culminating in an astonishing total of 780,000 tickets sold, according to figures provided by promoter OCESA.
This record-breaking feat surpasses the previous benchmark held by Grupo Firme, who performed nine shows at the same stadium. Looking ahead, Bad Bunny is scheduled for eight nights in December with his DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS tour. During her final Mexico City performance, a visibly emotional Shakira shared her profound gratitude, stating, “My last show in Mexico City. Truly, 12 concerts at GNP Stadium, not even in my wildest dreams. Thank you, because this wouldn’t have been possible without you. This has been a true gift that I will never forget.”
The farewell night in the capital was imbued with a sense of nostalgia for both Shakira and her devoted audience, who passionately sang along to the nearly 30 songs on her setlist. Expressing her appreciation for the country, the Barranquilla native exclaimed at one point, “I want the whole world to know that Mexico is magical.” As previously announced on social media, Mexican singer Danna joined Shakira on stage for a live rendition of “Soltera” during the Thursday show, marking the second time the track, which recently won the 2025 MTV Video Music Award for best Latin, was performed live on the tour.
The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour has left an indelible mark on Mexico City, not only through the unique bond Shakira fostered with her local and international fans but also due to the significant cultural, social, and economic impacts generated by her performances. The initial Mexican leg of the tour commenced in March with seven dates at the GNP Seguros Stadium, followed by a second leg adding five more shows between August and September at the same venue.
Throughout her extensive series of concerts, Shakira welcomed several special guests. Grupo Frontera joined her for a live performance of “(Entre Paréntesis)” on March 25, while Danna appeared for “Soltera” on August 26 and again on September 18. Mexican star Belinda also graced the stage for “Día de Enero” on August 30. In July, Shakira achieved another remarkable milestone by selling one million tickets across Mexico as part of the tour, from a total of 28 dates she is nearing completion. The Mexican leg of the tour is set to conclude on September 24 at the Luis Pirata Fuente Stadium in Veracruz, marking Shakira’s inaugural performance in that city.
