A 17-year-old boy has been charged with a series of offences following a police pursuit that culminated in a crash on Walker Fold Road north of Bolton on May 5.

This collision left a teenage girl, also 17, fighting for her life and in a critical condition, according to Greater Manchester Police.

The incident, which followed a 'brief pursuit', resulted in the youth facing serious legal repercussions. He is scheduled to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.

The charges against the unnamed boy are extensive, including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Furthermore, he faces charges of possession of cannabis, two counts of possession of an offensive weapon, and two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A.

Officers were called to reports of the crash on RochdaleRoad at just before 7am on Friday (May 9).

This incident involved a car and a motorbike, and initially, a 17-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital with what were described as 'life-threatening injuries'.

A section of Rochdale Road was closed as police and paramedics attended the scene.

In an update from Greater Manchester Police, it has been confirmed that while the boy's injuries are no longer life-threatening.

He is now facing potentially life-changing injuries, and the investigation into this separate Royton collision is ongoing.
