Masari Says Tinubu Has Best Plans for Nigeria in 40 Years of Politics Experience

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has said that, in nearly four decades of political involvement, he has never seen a Nigerian president with better plans for the country than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Masari made the remarks in a video published by HM Arewa, a Hausa-language media platform, while addressing a group of women at a recent public function reportedly held in Kaduna. “Even if I were asked to swear, on my age and my political involvement for almost 40 years, I can confidently say I have never seen a president with better plans to make Nigeria great than Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Masari also rejected claims that the Tinubu administration has achieved little since taking office, arguing that previous governments faced similar criticisms. He cited former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who he said faced accusations of tribalism and sectionalism, as well as former President Goodluck Jonathan, who he said faced similar attacks during his administration. Masari further criticised the use of religious and ethnic sentiments for political mobilisation, questioning the basis for associating particular faiths with specific ethnic groups.

The former governor urged the women to use their influence within their families and communities to discourage what he described as divisive rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general elections. He said women could play a role in countering messages that seek to exploit ethnic or religious differences for political purposes, describing those promoting such rhetoric as “deeply selfish” individuals.

Masari, who served as Speaker from 2003 to 2007 and governor of Katsina State from 2015 to 2023, was also recently appointed Deputy Director-General for Parliamentary Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
