Royal Air Maroc Expands Fleet with 13 New Boeing Jets in Major Lease Deal

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has successfully concluded a substantial long-term leasing agreement with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), involving 13 brand-new Boeing 737-8 aircraft. These new jets are slated for delivery commencing in 2027, marking a pivotal moment for the Moroccan national carrier's strategic development.
This significant deal highlights the intense competition among global aircraft lessors vying to collaborate with the rapidly expanding African airlines, which are increasingly developing into major aviation hubs. The agreement serves to deepen the strategic partnership between Royal Air Maroc and DAE, providing crucial support for the airline's ambitious plans for fleet expansion and modernization.
The integration of these fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft into RAM's fleet is expected to significantly enhance its operational flexibility and increase its capacity, particularly on regional and short-to-medium haul routes. This move is fully aligned with Royal Air Maroc’s broader growth strategy, which aims to solidify its position as a key gateway connecting Africa with Europe and the Americas.
The introduction of the new aircraft will enable the airline to effectively meet the rising passenger demand while simultaneously improving its environmental performance, thanks to the incorporation of the latest-generation aviation technology. Industry analysts observe a growing trend where leasing companies, such as DAE, are increasingly focusing on African airlines. This is driven by the continent's burgeoning aviation market, fueled by an expanding middle-class, booming tourism, and enhanced connectivity initiatives.
Royal Air Maroc’s agreement stands as a prime example of this trend, reflecting strong confidence in Africa's aviation potential and the airline's critical role as a leading hub operator. With deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027, the lease of these 13 Boeing 737-8 aircraft is poised to become a cornerstone of Royal Air Maroc’s ongoing fleet renewal efforts. This strategic addition will complement its existing aircraft, positioning the airline for sustainable growth and heightened competitiveness within both the African and international aviation landscapes.
