Rock Star Nightmare: Taylor Momsen Hospitalized After Venomous Spider Attack!

Taylor Momsen, the frontwoman of The Pretty Reckless and a former star of "Gossip Girl", recently provided fans with a health update following a venomous spider bite she sustained while on tour opening for AC/DC in South America. Despite the severe reaction, Momsen, 32, emphasized that "the show must go on," sharing her determination to perform in Mexico City.

On Tuesday, April 14, Momsen posted an Instagram selfie revealing her mottled right leg and a close-up of the bite's aftermath, which included angry red splotches and a prominent bite mark above her ankle. She captioned the post with "Hospital today, show tomorrow," alongside Mexican flag and lightning bolt emojis.

The situation escalated, leading to an overnight hospital stay for treatment. On Wednesday morning, April 15, Momsen shared additional hospital photos, looking visibly unwell. She expressed gratitude to the medical staff, writing, "Thank you to the amazing doctors who, well, they know," accompanied by heart emojis, and signed off with spider and thumbs-down emojis. An accompanying video showed her being wheeled through hospital corridors, her rashy leg outlined in blue surgical marker.

This turn for the worse followed Momsen's earlier assertion of being "f***ing fine" in a backstage video before a show in Mexico City on Saturday, April 11, where she humorously referenced a spider in her bed, a nod to her band's song "When I Wake Up."

The spider bite, which occurred over a week prior to her hospitalization, initially saw Momsen maintain her characteristic dark humor, questioning when her "superpowers" would kick in while showing an image of a doctor cleaning the wound. This isn't Momsen's first animal encounter on an AC/DC tour. In 2024, while performing in Spain, she was bitten by a bat during "Witches Burn," necessitating hospital treatment and two weeks of rabies shots. She commented on the repeated incidents, writing, "So it wouldn’t be an AC/DC tour if I didn’t get bit," adding that this time, "a massive spider decided to take a chunk out of me and its venom did a number on my system."

Despite her resilience and humorous outlook, a spokesperson for The Pretty Reckless had not yet confirmed whether Momsen's hospitalization would impact the band's scheduled opening slot for AC/DC in Mexico City on Wednesday night. Following this gig, The Pretty Reckless plans a break before a European tour beginning June 5 and then rejoining AC/DC for a North American summer stadium run starting July 11.
