Future Rides: Toyota's 2027 Corolla Hatchback Unveils Cutting-Edge Interior Tech!
The 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is set to hit dealerships with notable tech upgrades, including new digital displays and advanced connectivity features. While retaining its 2.0-liter engine and fun-to-drive character, it introduces fresh exterior colors and wheel options, all aimed at a more modern and engaging experience.
The 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback arrives with significant technological upgrades to enhance its youthful and connected appeal, while largely maintaining its proven mechanical formula. Designed to blend a fun-to-drive character with modern demands, the updated hatchback introduces new digital displays and advanced connectivity features for buyers.
Drivers will immediately notice the enhanced digital cockpits. The SE trim now comes standard with a 7.0-inch digital cluster paired with an 8.0-inch infotainment screen. For those opting for the XSE, the experience is elevated with a larger 12.3-inch digital dash and a 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment screen. SE buyers also have the option to upgrade to the XSE's display combination through the optional Premium Package, which adds $800 to the SE’s base price of $26,075. Even with this upgrade, the SE remains a more affordable option, priced $2,295 less than the XSE, which starts at $29,170.
The exterior of the 2027 Corolla Hatchback also sees new color introductions: Inked and Blueprint, both offered at no extra cost. A premium option, Blueprint with a black roof, is available for an additional $500, expanding the total exterior color palette to 13 choices, including five with a contrasting black roof. For those seeking a distinctive look, Toyota will offer the 18-inch gloss-white wheels, previously featured on the 2026 FX trim, as a Toyota Genuine accessory. As these are not factory-installed, they necessitate a specific set of 225/40R18 tires. This upgrade may be more costly for SE owners, as their standard tire size is 205/55R16, requiring new tires. However, XSE owners can simply have their factory tires swapped over by the dealer, as they already meet the size requirement. A full set of these FX-inspired wheels is priced at $1,495, with tire installation costs separate.
Beyond these updates, the 2027 Corolla Hatchback largely carries over its mechanical specifications from the 2026 model year. It retains the robust 2.0-liter I-4 engine, producing 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. This engine is coupled with Toyota's Direct Shift continuously variable transmission (CVT), sending power exclusively to the front wheels. Notably, a hybrid option is still not available for the hatchback, a feature some drivers might welcome for enhanced power during acceleration, particularly when merging onto highways. In previous tests, a Corolla FX equipped with the same powertrain achieved 0-60 mph in 8.3 seconds, a performance expected to be largely consistent with the standard hatchback, positioning it competitively against rivals like the Kia K4 (9.1 seconds) and Honda Civic (9.6 seconds).
Inside, in addition to the new technology, the 2027 Corolla Hatchback maintains its standard interior equipment from 2026. The SE trim features a six-way-adjustable driver’s seat and a four-way-adjustable front passenger seat, both upholstered in cloth. The XSE elevates comfort with an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and both front seats are heated and trimmed in SofTex. Connectivity is further enhanced with a five-year trial of Toyota Connected Services, which includes Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect. Buyers also receive a 30-day or 3 GB trial for Wi-Fi Connect. The 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is anticipated to arrive at dealerships soon, with details regarding the 2027 Corolla Sedan expected to be released at a later date by Toyota.
