Reading & Leeds Buzz: Festival Fans Uncover Secret Headliners Through Social Media Clues

The Reading and Leeds Festivals for 2025 are abuzz with anticipation, not only for their star-studded official lineup featuring acts like Travis Scott, Bring Me the Horizon, Hozier, and Chappell Roan, but also for widespread speculation regarding unannounced "secret sets." These surprise performances have become a common and exciting tradition at the twin festivals, prompting eagle-eyed fans to scour schedules and social media for clues.
Among the most frequently rumored bands for secret appearances are Wolf Alice and Pendulum. Fans believe there's a strong likelihood of Wolf Alice taking the stage, especially with their fourth studio album, "The Clearing," scheduled for release. Similarly, Australian electronic rock band Pendulum is a hot topic, with their new album, "Inertia," also due for release, coinciding with their touring schedule. Reddit forums and online discussions indicate a high level of confidence in these two acts performing.
Further fueling the excitement, legendary rock band Foo Fighters has become a significant subject of secret set rumors. Fans noticed what they perceived as unusual gaps in the festival lineup poster and, more notably, a throwback Instagram post from the band itself featuring their 2019 Reading Festival performance. This nostalgic post, coupled with the band's extensive history with the festival—having headlined numerous times since 2002—has led many to believe a surprise appearance is on the cards. While some fans are highly optimistic about a potential Reading, Leeds, or even both performances, others remain cautiously skeptical, pointing out the rarity of such massive headline acts undertaking secret sets.
Most recently, speculation has intensified around Chase & Status. Festival-goers are convinced this "HUGE act" will perform, following a discernible clue on the festival's official Instagram account. The post reportedly featured a silhouette of two people with question marks, with fans quickly identifying the figures as resembling Chase & Status. This, combined with whispers about "something special happening for the secret set 19:30 on the Aux Stage at Reading," has solidified their position as a top contender for a surprise slot.
However, not all news from the festival front has been positive. American rockers House of Protection unfortunately confirmed they would no longer be able to perform at this year's Reading & Leeds Festivals. The band cited financial difficulties as the reason, explaining that most of the funding for their trip was contingent upon their performance at the Heavy Music Awards, which was regrettably cancelled due to serious health issues affecting a key team member. Despite their disappointment, House of Protection assured fans they would be returning to the UK in October to tour with fellow band Architects, aiming to make up for the missed festival appearance.
As the festival kicks off, the blend of confirmed major acts and the thrill of potential secret performances, driven by fan theories and social media hints, continues to build a unique atmosphere of anticipation for the Reading and Leeds Festival 2025.
