PSG Stuns Barcelona, Ending Undefeated Run with Ramos' Late Strike!
)
Paris Saint-Germain, demonstrating their championship pedigree, secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium. The decisive goal came late in second-half stoppage time from substitute Goncalo Ramos, rewarding PSG's relentless second-half dominance. This result marked Barcelona’s first loss of the new season, while propelling PSG to six points from two games, maintaining pace with table-toppers Bayern Munich in the league phase table.
The match began with Barcelona showing early intent and pushing upfield, keen to avenge their previous Champions League quarter-final loss to PSG. Their efforts paid off in the 19th minute when Ferran Torres opened the scoring. Rashford delivered a cutting cross, and Torres skillfully raced past his marker to slide in and finish past Lucas Chevalier, putting Barça ahead.
Despite the early setback, PSG gradually built their response. In the 38th minute, Nuno Mendes carried the ball infield, skillfully evading challenges before delivering a precise through pass. Youngster Senny Mayulu capitalized on a well-timed tackle from Pau Cubarsi, took a touch, and curled the ball into the bottom corner, leveling the score for PSG shortly before halftime. The hosts, however, nearly regained the lead just before the break but failed to convert their opportunity.
The second half saw a significant shift in momentum, with Paris Saint-Germain upping their intensity and creating a plethora of chances. Despite opportunities for Barcelona through players like Olmo and Yamal, they were unable to convert. PSG further enhanced their attacking prowess with strategic substitutions, notably the introduction of Lee Kang-In, whose impact was immediately felt. In the 83rd minute, the Korean’s powerful shot from distance cannoned off the post, signaling PSG's growing pressure.
The dramatic winning moment arrived in stoppage time. PSG launched a quick break, with Achraf Hakimi bursting down the flank to deliver a pinpoint cross into the box. Goncalo Ramos, having come off the bench, outjumped the defense and side-footed home from close range in the 90+1 minute, securing the 2-1 victory. This marked PSG’s third road win over Barcelona in as many attempts, despite playing without key players like Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the match.
