President Tinubu's Staggering Claim: 'Corruption Vanished Under My Watch!'

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Brazilian investors that Nigeria's ongoing economic reforms are yielding significant results, highlighting a claim that corruption has been eradicated since he assumed office. During a Monday meeting with ministers from both Nigeria and Brazil, alongside members of the Brazil Business Group, President Tinubu reiterated Nigeria's commitment to strengthening partnerships across various sectors, including technology transfer, food security, manufacturing, and renewable energy.
Describing Nigeria's economic landscape as a vast, untapped market brimming with opportunities for Brazilian companies, President Tinubu acknowledged the initial difficulty of the reforms. However, he emphasized that the results are now "blossoming," bringing clarity to the populace and generating more funds for the economy, coupled with an end to corruption.
To illustrate the new era of transparency, he referenced the Central Bank of Nigeria, stating that individuals no longer need personal connections to access foreign exchange, and that speculators have been removed from the currency market, making it open for legitimate businesses. Reflecting on his prior engagements in Brazil, the Nigerian leader underscored the urgency of transitioning from merely symbolic relationships to tangible, concrete economic cooperation. He affirmed that past obstacles and activities that hindered progress are now definitively behind them.
According to a statement released by presidential spokesperson Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu also attended a state luncheon at the Itamaraty Palace. Discussions during this event centered on further deepening economic cooperation, enhancing trade relations, and fostering innovation-driven partnerships between the two nations.
