This announcement was made by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga in a statement released on Monday, September 15. The President had initially departed for France on September 4, 2025, intending to spend part of his annual holiday, which was scheduled to be divided between France and the United Kingdom for a period of ten working days.

During his stay in Paris last week, President Tinubu engaged in a private luncheon with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, at the historic Élysée Palace. Both leaders utilized this opportunity to review key areas of cooperation between Nigeria and France. They also reached an agreement to deepen the existing partnership, aiming for mutual prosperity and enhanced global stability. This engagement highlights a significant diplomatic activity undertaken during what was initially planned as a private holiday.

The presidency had previously announced the President’s vacation on September 4, outlining his plans to spend time in both France and the UK before returning to Nigeria. However, the decision to cut short the vacation was confirmed by Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, who reiterated that President Tinubu would be back in Abuja to resume his responsibilities earlier than expected.
