Political Firestorm: Sheriff Rejects Boko Haram Allegations Against Shettima, Threatens Legal Action

Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, the former Governor of Borno State, has vehemently debunked a viral report that falsely claimed he accused Vice President Kashim Shettima of being responsible for the creation of Boko Haram. Through a statement released by his media office, Sheriff explicitly labeled the publication, titled “It’s Not Me, It’s Shettima Who Created Boko Haram – Sheriff Reveals,” as entirely fabricated and designed with the malicious intent to mislead the public and damage his standing.
Sheriff unequivocally clarified that he has never granted an interview or made any statements whatsoever that would relate to the accusations circulating online. The statement from his office stressed, “The story is a total falsehood, devoid of truth, and a deliberate attempt to sow discord within the nation’s political landscape. At no time did Senator Sheriff engage with any journalist on this matter.”
The former governor further characterized the contentious publication as a “dangerous piece of fake news.” He asserted that its primary objective was to undermine his significant contributions towards fostering peace, unity, and development not only in Borno State but across Nigeria. Reaffirming his steadfast commitment to national stability, Senator Sheriff strongly condemned those individuals who propagate such misinformation for their own political gain.
In response to the egregious falsehoods, Senator Sheriff has taken decisive action by instructing his legal team to immediately commence proceedings to identify and prosecute the individuals responsible for disseminating the false report. The statement concluded with a stern warning: “Should the publication not be retracted, the Senator will seek full legal redress.” He also implored the general public and media outlets to completely disregard the viral story, reiterating his unwavering dedication to the principles of truth, justice, and accountability.
