Oasis Reunion Chaos: Band Line-Up Confirmed Amidst Ticketmaster Legal Showdown

The highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour is officially moving forward, with founding members Liam and Noel Gallagher leading the veteran pop combo. Bassist Andy Bell has confirmed his involvement, rejoining the band for their extensive 2025 schedule, which includes highly sought-after dates in Scotland. Bell's return is significant, having played with Oasis from 1999 to 2009 and later with Liam Gallagher's post-Oasis project, Beady Eye, making him well-suited to navigate the dynamics of the Gallagher brothers. In an interview with Austrian newspaper Oe24, Bell stated, “I’m in and I’m really looking forward to it. We’ll see each other on tour.”
Bell is expected to be joined by other long-time collaborators for the live performances, including his Beady Eye bandmate and fellow guitarist Gem Archer, guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, and drummer Joey Waronker. The reunion tour comprises 41 dates booked for 2025, commencing at stadiums across the UK and Ireland in July before expanding to multiple continents. The Scottish leg of the tour will see Oasis play sold-out shows at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12. Support acts for various dates include Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant, and Ball Park Music. The demand for tickets was immense, with 10 million people from over 100 countries attempting to purchase them, leading to a record-breaking sell-out.
Despite the excitement surrounding the tour, the band's manager, Alec McKinlay, has firmly addressed speculation regarding new material or additional tour dates. McKinlay clarified that this is “very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” emphasizing that there are “no plan for any new music.” This statement refutes earlier social media claims by Liam Gallagher, who had teased fans about a completed new album and praised Noel's new material. McKinlay also shed light on the secrecy surrounding the comeback, stating, “The group of people who knew about it in advance was very limited. We were working with people we trusted,” and described the public reaction as “phenomenal.”
However, the reunion tour's launch has been marred by controversy surrounding Ticketmaster's sales practices. The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has threatened legal action against Ticketmaster for “misleading” methods used during the sale of Oasis tickets. The CMA's investigation, initiated last summer, found that thousands of fans paid significantly over the odds for tickets. Concerns include the sale of 'platinum' tickets, which were priced up to 2.5 times higher than equivalent standard tickets without offering any additional benefits and often located in the same stadium areas. This practice, the watchdog claims, misled customers into believing they were purchasing a superior product.
Furthermore, Ticketmaster is accused of breaking the law by not informing consumers that there were two categories of standing tickets at different prices. Reportedly, all cheaper tickets were sold first before the more expensive ones were released, leaving customers waiting without understanding the tiered pricing. Some fans ended up paying over £350 for tickets with an initial face value of £150. Oasis, in a statement shortly after the sale, distanced themselves from the dynamic pricing fiasco, clarifying that the band “leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.” While acknowledging that prior meetings aimed for a fair ticket sale strategy, the band conceded that “the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations” due to unprecedented demand. The CMA's warning in March reaffirmed that Ticketmaster had “breached the law” and “misled fans,” highlighting a significant consumer protection issue impacting those attending the reunion shows, including the Scottish dates.
