The incident began when Philadelphia's Andre Drummond pulled on the jersey of Orlando's Wendell Carter Jr., which quickly escalated into a shoving match between the two near the Magic's free throw line.

Suggs intervened in the altercation, shoving Drummond. Philadelphia's Jabari Walker then stepped in to separate the players, but Suggs subsequently took issue with Walker, leading to further pushing and shoving. In the aftermath, Drummond, Carter, Walker, and Orlando's Desmond Bane each received one technical foul, while Suggs was assessed two, resulting in his automatic ejection from the game.

Following the game, Suggs expressed no regrets about his actions, stating he would intervene again if a teammate were in a similar situation. “I’m going to protect my guys. That’s my job.
