Messi Mania Unleashed: Two Goals, One Assist as Inter Miami Obliterates Atlanta!
)
Inter Miami secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Atlanta United in a Major League Soccer (MLS) fixture at Chase Stadium in Florida, largely thanks to a stellar performance from Lionel Messi. The Argentine superstar, opting to play for his club rather than his national team's friendly against Venezuela, was the undisputed hero of the night, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Messi broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, receiving a crossing pass from Baltasar Rodriguez and expertly curling a shot into the far top corner. He then played a crucial role in Miami's second goal in the 52nd minute, delivering a long ball across the field to Jordi Alba, who lobbed it over Atlanta United's goalkeeper, Jayden Hibbert.
The rout continued in the 61st minute when Luis Suarez added to the scoreline, curling the ball past Hibbert. Messi completed his brace and the team's commanding win in the 87th minute, scoring his second goal from another assist by Jordi Alba.
This victory was significant for Inter Miami, as it secured them at least the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. The team still harbors hopes of earning the No. 2 seed if they can finish with more points than FC Cincinnati. This match marked Inter Miami's last MLS regular-season game at Chase Stadium before their planned move to Miami Freedom Park in 2026.
Messi's individual performance further solidified his standing in the league. He currently leads the MLS in goals with 26 and is tied with San Diego's Anders Dreyer for the league lead with 18 assists.
