Life-Changing Anti-HIV Jabs Primed for Urgent Rollout Across Africa!
Kenyans who are eligible for the injectable HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) will now receive this advanced protection against HIV disease, with a commitment to at least four jabs annually. This long-acting injection, identified as Lenacapavir, is a significant development in HIV prevention strategies, designed to offer sustained protection.
The standard administration schedule for Lenacapavir involves two injections per year, spaced six months apart. However, during a client's very first visit to receive the injectable PrEP, a specific protocol is followed: two injections are administered simultaneously. This initial double dose is crucial for establishing the foundational level of protection.
Furthermore, individuals qualifying for the Lenacapavir jab are required to complement their initial injection with oral PrEP tablets. This concurrent use of oral PrEP during the initiation phase of the first jab is essential to ensure rapid and robust protection against HIV disease, bridging any potential gap until the long-acting injectable fully takes effect. This comprehensive approach aims to maximize the protective benefits for eligible individuals.
