Crypto Carnage: Ethereum Whales Face Massive Liquidation Amidst Market Bloodbath

A prominent Ethereum whale recently experienced a significant liquidation event, losing 28,716 ETH, equivalent to $69.69 million, amidst a prevailing market crash. Despite this substantial loss, the trader has not retreated from the market, choosing instead to retain 78,955 ETH in long positions, valued at roughly $195.57 million, indicating a continued bullish wager on an anticipated market upswing.

The current market dynamics are bringing the whale's remaining substantial positions precariously closer to further liquidation. Critical liquidation prices have been identified at $2,299.09 and $2,286.28. These specific price points hold significant importance as they align closely with crucial support zones visible on the chart. Following a notable drop from $2,700 earlier in the week, Ethereum is presently trading near $2,499. On Thursday, the price briefly fell to approximately $2,405 before encountering buyer interest that propelled it back up.

From a technical analysis perspective, the ETH coin is currently positioned on the blue average, which is situated near $2,505. It consistently remains below the cyan average, found around $2,555, and the green average, close to $2,600, suggesting ongoing resistance at these higher price levels. The strongest and most significant support level, however, lies lower: the orange average is positioned near $2,340, while a critical black long-term line resides near $2,298. Notably, the whale's precise liquidation thresholds are situated exactly at this crucial black line, highlighting its importance.

Pressure on ETH is noticeably rising. Should the price descend to the aforementioned liquidation point, the whale's position could be forcibly closed, which would likely trigger increased selling volume and potentially accelerate a further price drop. This week has been characterized by undeniably strong selling pressure. During the recent price decline, trading volume increased, and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) fell to approximately 40, indicating underlying weakness in the market, though not yet reaching extreme oversold conditions. While the most recent daily candle displays a green color, its limited volume movement thus far suggests that the recent bounce has not yet been definitively confirmed.

For bullish traders, the immediate objective should be to achieve a daily close above $2,555. Once this initial target is met, their sights will then be set on $2,600 and subsequently $2,700. If prices manage to surpass $2,800, it would signify a break from the current established trading range. Conversely, for bears, a decisive price dip beneath $2,400 would serve as confirmation of the current bounce's failure. In such a scenario, the next critical support levels are identified at $2,340 and the $2,300 zone, which precisely marks the area where the whale's significant risk begins. Ultimately, Ethereum must successfully hold the $2,400 level in order to secure a larger, sustained uptrend. If this level is maintained, the price is anticipated to gradually climb back up towards $2,600. Otherwise, the $2,300 zone will likely become the primary target, and further whale liquidations could exacerbate the downward price movement.
